Paramedics were called to the Quinte Detention Centre, in Napanee, ON, on March 18th on report of an injured inmate.

On arrival Hendrik Peter Ryskamp, 31,  of Kingston, was found unresponsive. Ryskamp was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Barry Samuel Kerlovich of Napanee was charged with manslaughter, as well as possessing and trafficking an opioid other than heroin on June 19th.
