Saint John police responded to a report of a shooting in an apartment in the 100-block of King Street East on August 20, 2023, at approximately 5:39 a.m.

Police arrived to find a 38-year-old man who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said a 31-year-old suspect, who was known to the deceased, had allegedly fled the scene before police arrived.

Emergency Tactical Services conducted a high-risk traffic stop on Main Street North at approximately 9:30 a.m, and took the suspect into custody without incident. He has been charged with first-degree murder.
