Gatineau police said five people were injured inside an apartment in the western Quebec city’s Buckingham district when a fire broke out at approximately 2:00 a.m. on August 31st, 2019.

A 3month old infant dies as a result of the fire on August 31st. A man and another child were also badly injured. Police said the man died in December of 2019, and the other child remains in hospital.

A 39-year-old woman is facing 2 manslaughter charges in relation to the deaths as well as arson causing damage to property and arson with disregard for human life.
