Surrey RCMP responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 16800-block of 104 Avenue on February 8th at approximately 11:30pm.
Police located a male and a female in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were rushed to hospital, the female in serious condition, the male with life-threatening injuries. The male victim died in hospital of his injuries.
According to vancouversun.com the male victim was part of Brothers Keepers gang, and investigators are looking into whether that may have been in retaliation for the murder in Thailand last Friday of a United Nations gangster who used to live in B.C.
Update February 11th
IHIT has not publicly identified the victim however several news sources have identified him as Juvraj Jabal, 24, and Police believe his murder is believed to be part of the Lower Mainland gang conflict.
Update, on January 23, 2024, 23-year-old Yusuf Kontos was arrested in Richmond Hill, Ontario and was subsequently charged with one count of first-degree murder for the homicide of Jabal and one count of attempted murder in relation to Lindstrom.
