Newfoundland 2026 Homicide Victim List

In the early morning hours of April 10, around 4:45 a.m., Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP were called to a home in the Crescent Heights area. Police quickly issued a public advisory, asking residents and drivers to stay clear of the neighborhood while officers carried out their investigation.

When officers arrived, they found Amanda Gilbert deceased inside the residence. Another individual at the scene was identified as a suspect and taken into custody without any issues. Police have confirmed that the suspect and the victim were known to one another.

The investigation is being led by RCMP Major Crime Unit West, and 52-year-old Ivan Loder has been charged with first-degree murder. He appeared in Provincial Court later that same day.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is also involved as the investigation remains ongoing. Police say residents should expect to see an increased presence in the area over the coming days. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP.
