8-year-old boy killed in Dartmouth shooting

Halifax police responded to a call related to a shooting involving two vehicles that had just occurred near the intersection of Windmill Road and Waddell Avenue in Dartmouth on December 21st at approximately 4:00pm.

Police said Shots were fired at a vehicle hitting an 8-year-old boy and a 26-year-old man. Both victims were rushed to hospital where the boy died of his injuries and the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Halifax police have identified the victim as Lee-Marion Cain.

Police said they do not believe the shooting was a random incident.

The suspects are described as two Black men driving a burgundy SUV, possibly a Chevrolet, with tinted windows. Anyone with information about the incident or video from the area is asked to call 902-490-5020. Anonymous tips can be sent to Crime Stoppers by calling toll-free 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
