71-year-old Clarington woman charged with second-degree murder in relation to the murder of her roommate in Pickering

Durham Region Police West Division located a deceased female in a wooded area near Pickering Concession Road 9 and Sideline 28 in Pickering on February 20th at approximately 10:30pm. Investigators have not said what led them to the deceased.

Investigators from the Major Crime- Homicide Unit have charged a 71-year-old female of Clarington with Second-Degree murder. DRP said they have secured a residence on Fairway Drive in Wilmot Creek to secure evidence.  

An autopsy is being conducted to comfirm the cause of death and identity of the victim.

Update February 24th

The autopsy has been completed and authorities have identified the victim as Terri JOHNSON, age 52 of Clarington. 71-year-old Barbara KENNEDY, of Fairway Drive in Clarington was charged with Second Degree Murder and Interference with a Dead Body in connection with the death of her roommate.
