Halton Region Police responded to the report of an unconscious woman at 695 Regency Court in Burlington on January 13th at approximately 11:30am.
On arrival police and paramedics located the 67-year-old woman deceased. The cause of death was neck compression.
A 70-year-old man has been arrested in relation to this incident and charges are pending. According to reports he left the building and told the property manager to call the police.
Update April 30, 2025: According to insidehalton, 73-year-old Sandor Somogyi has been found guilty of second-degree murder in connection with the homicide of his wife Margit Somogyi, 67.
During the trial Somogyi testified that he killed his wife in self-defence. He told the jury he held her neck for just “half a minute” and then let go because Margit went quiet. “I didn’t want to kill her, I just wanted to calm her down.” The 73-year-old said he then attempted to kill himself by swallowing a large amount of the various medications he was taking, but this plan failed.
