RCMP were called to Waywayseecappo First Nation on January 31, 2015, to help local police investigate the death of a 2-year-old boy.

The boy apparently fell out of his bed while playing and bumped his head. Hours later the mother said that she found the baby unresponsive.  The boy was then pronounced dead at the hospital.

**UPDATE**

RCMP arrested and charged the 36-year-old woman on April 5th, 2016, over a year after the incident, and charged her with second-degree murder in the boy’s death.

Jessica Brandon, who admitted to killing her son by fatally throwing him to the floor after a night of drinking has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
