York Region police were called to check on the welfare of the residents at a home on Taylor Mills Drive South just after 6:30 p.m. on August 25th.

On arrival police located a man needing medical attention and a woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

35-year-old Daniil Matin of Toronto has been charged with second-degree murder.

Invesigators said Matin and the victim knew each other and had been in a past relationship.
