3 men who made a citizens’ arrest could be facing murder charges in Montreal’s 29th homicide.

Montreal police received a call regarding a fight on Nicolet St. near Ontario Street, on November 27th. It has been reported that three men, ages 37, 48 and 78, ran after a 34-year-old man after he allegedly robbed an East End depanneur and fled down an alleyway.

Police arrived to find the 34-year-old man unconscious on the ground. He was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police have not released the exact cause of death but said they do not believe a weapon was involved. Police have deemed the death of the alleged thief a homicide.

Police said the three men could now face charges of second degree murder.
