Toronto Homicide #65 – Zachary Antrobus shot to death in Scarborough

Toronto police were called to an apartment located at 1360 Danforth Road on November 23rd, at 4:42 pm, on report of a shooting.

Police arrived to find Zachary Antrobus, 27, of Toronto suffering from gunshot wounds in the lobby of the building. Antrobus was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Victim identified – Surrey RCMP found two deceased people in a home, investigators say one of the deceased appears to be the victim of a homicide

Surrey RCMP attended a residence in the 14000-block of 102A Avenue on November 21st at around 5:00pm. Police entered the home to find two deceased and contacted the IHIT for further investigation.

Constable Harrison Mohr with the IHIT said “Although our investigation is in its early stages, at this time it appears as though one of the deceased was the victim of a homicide. We are working hard to gather evidence to identify the events surrounding this tragedy.”

Police said it was an isolated incident with no risk to the public, and confirmed that the deceased were known to each other.

Update the victim has been identified by her family as 21-year-old Prabhleen Matharu, a former international student. Police said the other deceased was an 18-year-old male.

33-year-old woman charged with the second-degree murder of a Sudbury man

Sudbury police responded to a check on the welfare of residents at an address on Melvin Avenue on Monday, November 18th at approximately 6:00pm.

On arrival officers located a deceased man. The victim’s identity has not been released at this time. A 33-year-old woman who has been identified in reports as Kairo Chilton has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Police said the victim and the accused were known to each other.

18-year-old charged in Sudbury’s first homicide of the year

Sudbury police responded to a weapons complaint on Cedar Street, on November 15th at approximately 10:30pm.

On arrival police located a 17-year-old male suffering from serious injuries. The victim was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries. His name will not be released out of respect for his family’s wishes.

Police arrested an 18-year-old on November 16th at 8:15am in relation to the homicide. The accused was known to the victim and there is no threat to the general public.

RCMP investigating a homicide on Berens River First Nation

RCMP responded to an assault at a residence in Berens River First Nation on November 16th at approximately 4:20am.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 38-year-old man from Bloodvein First Nation, suffering from serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been released.

Berens River RCMP along with Major Crime Services and Forensic Identification Services continue to investigate. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Matthew McKinnon stabbed to death in Brockville Ontario’s first Homicide of the year

Brockville police responded to a disturbance on Cedar Street between Church and Abbott streets on November 17th.

On arrival police and paramedics located Matthew McKinnon,32, suffering from a stab wound. Despite life saving efforts McKinnon succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police said the suspect had gone to hide in a nearby home, and a police negotiator made contact with the suspects who surrendered after a short time. Ryan Russell Ballantyne, 34, has since been charged with second-degree murder.

RCMP are investigating the homicide of Saladina Vivancos in Parkland County

Parkland County RCMP responded to assist paramedics with a woman in distress in the area of Township Road 532A and Range Road 274 on November 17th. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

An autopsy was conducted on November 19th and revealed that the death of 33-year-old Saladina Vivancos was a homicide. Police have not released the cause of death.

Abbotsford police investigating after a body was found inside a burning vehicle

Abbotsford police said firefighters were called to a vehicle fire in the 5300 block of Bates Road on November 15th at approximately 10:30 pm where they found an SUV fully engulfed.

Firefighters alerted police when a body was found in the SUV after the fire was extinguished. The victim’s identity and cause of death have not been released at this time.

The integrated homicide investigation team (IHIT) has taken over the investigation.

Update November 23rd.
The integrated homicide investigation team has identified the victim as 48-year-old Sukhdev Dhaliwal of Abbotsford.  Investigators are still waiting on autopsy reports to confirm the cause of death. Anyone with information is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551- IHIT (4448) .

Toronto Homicide #64 – Craig Campbell identified as the fatal shooting victim on Oakwood ave

Toronto police were flagged down in the area of 495 Oakwood Ave on November 16th at approximately 1:42am.

Police located Craig Campbell, 42, of Toronto, suffering from gunshot wounds. Campbell was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

It has been reported that a dark-coloured SUV was seen fleeing the area after the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400.
