Man dies after attack in Plaza Laurier in Montreal

Montreal police responded to a 911 at approximately 5:15 am on July 28th reporting an attack in progress inside the Plaza Laurier on Laurier Ave. near Henri Julien Ave.

Police arrived to find a 54-year-old man unconscious. Paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital where he died of injuries consistent with a stab wound that day. 

Police arrested a 62-year-old man at the scene. Charges have not been laid at this time, but police said the suspect is cooperating.

49-year-old man dies after an assault involving several people

Montreal police responded to a report of an assault involving several people in the Villeray neighborhood, on July 27th at approximately 9:00pm. 

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old man suffering from injuries. The men were taken to hospital where the 49-year-old victim died as a result of blunt force trauma to the head. Police said the 24-year-old victim was also struck several times with a blunt object but is expected to survive.

Lysa Graves-Smith shot to death in Pointe-Sapin New Brunswick

Southeast District RCMP responded to a 911 call at DJ Marine, a boating supply and service shop in Pointe-Sapin on July 25th at approximately 7:30am.

Police arrived to find 30-year-old Lysa Graves-Smith of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, N.B deceased of a gunshot wound. Police then located the body of a 42-year-old man from Saint-Charles. Police said criminality is not suspected in his death and a gun was recovered at the scene. 

Police have not released the relationship between the victim and the deceased but stated there is no risk to the general public.

18-year-old Victim of a deadly stabbing in Montreal

Montreal police responded to report of an altercation near De Maisonneuve Blvd. and St. Laurent Blvd on July 28th at approximately 11:40 pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find an 18-year-old unresponsive and suffering from severe injuries. The victim was rushed to hospital where he died of a stab wound overnight.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Jeffrey Claude Godin, of Ottawa identified as Gatineau’s first Homicide victim of 2019

Gatineau police responded to the report of a shooting on Laval Street at 8:00 p.m on July 23rd. Police arrived at the scene to find Jeffrey Claude Godin, 42, of Ottawa in life-threatening condition.

Police began life-saving efforts before a paramedic arrived. Paramedics rushed Godin to the Hull hospital where he died of his injuries.

A suspect has been taken into custody at the scene, however, no charges have been laid at this time.

44-year-old man turns himself to police in relation to a Rocky Mountain House homicide

Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to several reports of a man with a gun inside a residence, on July 26th at approximately 7:35 pm.

Police arrived at the home and found a deceased 28-year-old woman and her injured 29-year-old sister. The injured woman was taken to hospital and has since been released. Police said there were also three children in the house at the time of the homicide. All the children were unharmed.

The 44-year-old male suspect, who had fled the scene, turned himself in to Rocky Mountain House RCMP and remains in police custody. 

Melissa Galea charged with second-degree murder in relation to an Aurora house fire death.

York Regional Police and Central York Fire Services were called to a house fire on Edward Street, on July 27th at approximately 1:00 am. When officers arrived they found the house was fully engulfed.

Firefighters located the body believed to be of a deceased man inside the home. His identity and cause of death have not been released at this time. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Melissa Galea, 36 of Aurora, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Menhaz Zaman in custody after four people found dead in a Markham home.

York Regional Police responded to report of multiple injured people in a home on Castlemore Avenue, in Markham ON, just before 3:00 p.m on July 28th.

Const. Andy Pattenden said, officers arrived at the home and were met by 23-year-old Menhaz Zaman at the front door, and he was placed under arrest. Police then entered the home and found 4 people deceased. Zaman has been charged with First Degree Murder x4

The identities of the deceased and cause of death have not been released at this time, however, police have confirmed that the deceased are three adult women and one adult man. More information will be added as it becomes available.

Update July 31
The victims have been identified as 70-year-old Firoza Begum, 50-year-old Momotaz Begum, 59-year-old Moniruz Zaman, and 21-year-old Malesa Zaman. The cause of death has been determined but will not be released to protect the integrity of the case before the courts.

A 53-year-old man stabbed to death in a Laval apartment

Laval police responded to a report of a deceased person in an apartment on Robin Boulevard in the Pont-Viau district on July 25th at approximately 1:30 am.

Police arrived to find a 53-year-old man who appeared to have been stabbed to death. A 26-year-old woman was arrested near the scene, however, no charges have been laid at this time.
