Report of a single vehicle crash, ends up a homicide investigation in Regina

Regina police responded to  a report of a collision in the area of 5th Avenue and Lindsay Street on June 11th.

Police arrived to find 30-year-old Denny Troy Jimmy deceased. Further investigation revealed that Jimmy’s death was the result of homicide. Police have released little information regarding the investigation.

Winnipeg homicide #22 – Robert Donaldson, dies from stab wound

Winnipeg Police responded to a report of a fight with several males at the intersection of Sherbrook St. and Sara Ave on June 7th at approximately 8:45pm.

Police arrived to find Robert Donaldson, 51, suffering from a stab wound to the upper body. Donaldson was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.

34-year-old man, Rodney Williams has been arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder, and two counts of Assault with a Weapon.

The 2018 Winnipeg Homicide total was 22. This time last year, the city was only at 9 homicides.

OPP lay manslaughter charge in the March opioid related death of Sam Bowyer

Police responded to report of an unresponsive man at a homeTenth Street in Collingwood, on March 17th.

25-year-old Sam Bowyer was found unresponsive and later pronounced deceased at scene.  Police said the investigation revealed that Bowyer died as a result of an opioid overdose.

On June 13th it was reported that Shawn Brock, 47-years-old, and Amber Knudsen, 26-years-old, both from Collingwood have been charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence causing death, and trafficking heroin.

Fredericton Police investigating the death of Cody Alexander Cleghorn as a homicide

Fredericton Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at a home on Canterbury Drive, on June 5th at approximately 5:20am. The fire department alerted police after finding a deceased male one the blaze was extinguished.

The victim has been identified as Cody Alexander Cleghorn, of Beaverdam New Brunswick. Police said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.

Saskatchewan RCMP investigating the disappearance of Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere as a homicide

Accordong to RCMP Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere was attending a funeral in North Battleford and Thunderchild First Nation areas on April 27, 2019. After the funeral Laberdiere expressed a desire to return to Edmonton, Alberta.

RCMP said Tiki was last seen in North Battleford on May 1, and the last contact she had with any family was through text message, on May 1. The Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crime Unit North, North Battleford and Prince Albert Forensic Identification Sections and an Analyst from the RCMP Forensic Laboratory in Edmonton, Alberta, said that Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere’s disappearance is the result of foul play and, as such, it is now being investigated as a homicide.

Police have issued search warrants and continue to investigate. Anyone with information relating to the homicide of Tiki Brook-Lyn Laverdiere is asked to contact Battlefords RCMP at 306-446-1720.

Edmonton police investigating the death of Jeremy Morrison as a homicide

Edmonton police located an unresponsive male with significant injuries in the area of 106 Avenue and 96 Street, on June 5th at approximately 1:30am.

Police said Jeremy Morrison, 24, was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on June 7th. An autopsy was conducted on June 11th, revealing the manner of death to be a homicide. Police will not be releasing the cause of death at this time.

Local Hip Hop artist Markland Campbell, shot to death in Ottawa’s ByWard Market

Ottawa police responded to reports of a shooting in the area of ByWard Market Square and York Street, on June 7th.

Police arrived to find 42-year-old Markland Campbell of Ottawa, suffering from gunshot wounds on the sidewalk. Campbell was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Jahiant, a member of the hip-hop trio HalfSizeGiants. It has been reported by Hip Hop Canada that Campbell was “rushing to defend his 18-year-old daughter’s dignity after she called to say she was being assaulted by a couple of men”.

18 year old male suspect has been arrested in relation to this shooting.

One man in custody: 33-year-old woman’s death in Toosey Reserve BC, being investigated by RCMP.

Williams Lake and Alexis Creek RCMP responded to report of an injured woman on the Toosey Reserve, on June 8th at approximately 6:00pm.

A 33-year-old woman was found suffering from severe injuries. Despite life saving efforts, the woman was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics. Her identity and cause of death has not been released.

A man from Toosey Reserve was arrested at the scene and remains in custody. RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley said the death is being treated as an isolated incident and that there is no risk to the public.

OPP investigating the homicide of Blythe Sexsmith

Northumberland OPP detachment responded to a report of a man injured from an alleged assault on May 6th at approximately 7:20pm.

Officers arrived on scene and found evidence of a person who had been seriously injured, however the victim was not at the scene.

Stephen Murray KELLY (age 62) of Selwyn Township, was found injured was arrested and charged with first-degree-murder. Kelly was taken to hospital for his injuries where he dies a short time after.

On Monday May 27, two kayakers found a body near the shoreline of the Trent Severn Waterway near 8th Line East, just north of Campbellford. The body was the victim Blythe Sexsmith.
