Police investigating the 10th Surrey BC homicide of 2019

Surrey police responded to report of a shooting in the area of Abbey Drive and 176 Street on April 26th at approximately 5:00pm.

The male victim was found suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced at the scene. Police have not identified the victim at this time. No arrests have been made.

Update: Calgary police investigating the double homicide of Jasmine Lovett or 22-month-old Aliyah Sanderson

Calgary police have launched a homicide investigation of a missing woman and child as they have been unable to find any evidence confirming that 25-year-old Jasmine Lovett or 22-month-old Aliyah Sanderson are alive.

Police said the last time they were seen was in the area of Cranston on the evening of April 16, 2019, and the last activity on Jasmine’s bank accounts was April 18th.

Police have a suspect in custody and said they do not believe the act to be random and that the suspect and potential victims were known to each-other.

Police are appealing for help from the public “Property owners in the Bragg Creek area are still being asked to check their property and report anything suspicious to police, especially if any new mulch has been dumped between Tuesday last week (April 16) and last Saturday (April 20). Hikers and bikers in the area are also asked to be on the lookout for anything suspicious.”

Police are also looking for anyone who witnessed a Caucasian man in his 30s driving a grey, luxury SUV in the Bragg Creek and/or East Kananaskis area between Tuesday, April 16, and Thursday, April 18, 2019.

The latest press release stated that the suspect has been released but remains the primary suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234.

Update: Calgary police said the investigation lead them to a heavily wooded area near Grizzly Creek, where the bodies were found. The cause of death of both victims is not expected to be released. A suspect has been taken into custody and charges are pending. Police said Robert Andrew Leeming, 34, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder. He will next appear in court on Tuesday, May 14, 2019.

Winnipeg Homicide #13 – Joselito Fernandez dies of a gunshot wound

Edmonton police and paramedics responded to report of a shooting and badly injured man at the rail line in the 1000 block of Selkirk Avenue, on April 18th at approximately 3:10am.

Police arrived to find Joselito Fernandez, 53, unresponsive. Fernandez was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Yazan Alhorani, dies of a stab wound in Winnipeg’s 12th homicide of the year

Winnipeg emergency personnel responded to a report of a stabbing at a lounge in the 300 block of Pembina Highway on April 15th at approximately 11:00pm.

On arrival two men were located suffering from stab wounds. Both men were rushed to hospital where Yazan Alhorani, 20, died of his injuries. The other man is expected to survive.

On April 16, 2019, at approximately 3:15 p.m, police arrested Mahfuthmm Assi, 20, and charged him with Second Degree Murder and Attempted Murder.

Edmonton police investigating the death of Tristen Nicholas Morningeagle Cook-Buckle

Edmonton police responded to a trouble unknown call near 92 Street and 110 Avenue, on April 5th at approximately 2:45am.

Police arrived to the scene only to find what they called a significant amount of blood. Later that morning RCMP found a deceased male in a vehicle near Vegreville. Police are not releasing the cause of death at this time.

The DNA collected at 92 Street and 110 Avenue was tested on April 15th and
was matched to Tristen Nicholas Morningeagle Cook-Buckle, 20. On April 18, 2019, the DNA analysis collected by RCMP investigators from the crime scene in Vegreville was also matched to Cook-Buckle. Edmonton Medical Examiner confirmed on April 19th the manner of death of Tristen Nicholas Morningeagle Cook-Buckle to be a homicide.

Toronto Homicide #19 – Jermaine Gerard Skeete shot to death

Toronto police responded to call for the sound of gunshots at 571 Vaughan Road on April 21st at 2:49am.

Police and paramedics arrived at the scene to find Jermaine Gerard Skeete, 34, of Toronto, suffering from serious injuries. Skeete was rushed to hospital where he dies of his injuries.

Toronto Homicide #18 – Wilfred Kent Truman death deemed homicide

Toronto police responded to a medical call to a home in the Eglinton Avenue West and Black Creek Drive area on April 15th at approximately 6:25am.

On arrival police found Wilfred Kent Truman, 77, suffering from critical injuries.  Truman was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Kyle Truman, 49, of Toronto, has been charged with First Degree Murder. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400.

Sarnia – 26-year-old man dies in hospital after serious assault

Sarnia Police Service, and Paramedics, responded to report of an assault in the 300 block of Maxwell Street in the City of Sarnia on April 17th at 4:00pm.

Police located the 26-year-old male victim in serious condition. The victim was rushed to London Health Sciences where he died of his injuries on April 22nd.

Matthew Gerard Theriault , 30, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.

Emilio Jimenez dies from a gunshot wound in Ottawa’s latest homicide

Ottawa police responded to report of a shooting on York Street on April 18th at approximately 2:00am.

Police arrived to find Emilio Jimenez, 25, suffering from life threatening injuries. Jimenez was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. Police said “no other information will be given so not to compromise the integrity of the investigation.

Anas Mujber, 24, of Edmonton has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Woman shot to death in Cambridge ON

Waterloo Region Police responded to an area on King Street East, near Church Street North and Westminster Drive North in Cambridge on a report of a shooting, on April 17th at approximately 5:30pm.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a woman suffering from serious injuries. She was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced.

Police will be released more information as it becomes available.
