Anthony Soares gunned down in an apartment lobby in Toronto

Toronto police were called to an apartment in the Kennedy Road and Glamorgan Avenue area on report of a shooting on September 14th at approximately 2:54am.

Police and paramedics found 33 year old Anthony Soares suffering from life threatening injuries. Soares was rushed to hospital where he died a short time after arrival.

It is alleged that Soares walked into the building and was approached by two suspects who shot him at close range.

Bert Isaac Wood, has been identified as Thunder Bay’s latest Homicide victim

Thunder Bay police received a call to check on the welfare of a man on September 10th at approximately 11:26am at a home in the area of Syndicate Avenue North.

Police arrived to find one man dead and two other people who had been  assaulted.

The deceased has been identified as Bert Isaac Wood, 24. Police said the cause of death will not be released as the matter is now before the courts.

Update September 15th – Accused identity released.
Nazareth Alexander Nelson, 35, was arrested the evening of September 10 and charged with second-degree murder, aggravated assault and attempted murder.

Elderly Male shot to death in Edmonton

Edmonton police were called to the area of 111 Avenue and 94 Street at approximately 5:45pm September 13th on a  weapons complaint.

Police found an elderly man dead on the floor in the common area of the building.  Police have not released any other information at this time and  said the investigation is still preliminary stages.

Update September 16th
Nexhmi “Nick” Nuhi, 76 has been identified as the victim in Wednesday’s shooting. No arrests have been made at this time.

Yeshudyan Ragbir charged in Toronto’s 38th homicide of the year

Toronto police responded to a report of an unresponsive woman in the area of  Village Greenway and Parkway Forest Drive on September 13th at approximately 4:40 pm.

Police and paramedics found the victim with obvious signs of trauma. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yeshudyan Ragbir, 24, was arrested on September 13th and charged with first degree murder.

Police have not released the name of the victim or cause of death.

Second degree murder charge laid in the stabbing death of David Collins

St John’s police responded to report of a stabbing in the area of Alderberry Lane area near Mundy Pond at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday September 7th.

Police found 36 year old David Collins suffering from serious injuries. Collins was rushed to hospital where he dies later that day.

Police said Craig Pope, 31, has been charged with second degree murder in the death of David Collins.

Second Degree Murder charge laid in the death of Jenny Leigh McKay

Regina polic responded to a call for assistance at a home in the 200 block Angus Street on September 6th at approximately 3:30am.

Police arrived at the scene to find 33 year old Jenny Leigh McKay dead at the scene. 45 year old Jason McKay has been arrested and charged with the second degree murder in the death of Jenny McKay.

Police have not commented on the relationship between Jason McKay and Jenny McKay.

The cause of death has not been released.

Homicide investigation underway after a woman’s torso was found near the Oshawa Harbour in Lake Ontario

Oshawa police responded to report of a female torso floating in the Lake in the area of Simcoe Street South and Harbour Road on September 11th at approximately 8:30pm.

Police arrived at the scene where the fisherman found the body part and confirmed that it was a female torso. An autopsy is scheduled for today, September 12th, at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto to determine the cause of death and to identify the victim.

Update September 13th
The results of the post mortem conducted on Sept 12th were inconclusive as far as the cause of death. Police said further testing will be conducted at the Centre of Forensic Sciences.

Update No ember 10th

Durham region police announced that the woman found dead in the lake has been identified as 18 year old Rori Hache. Hache had been reported missing by her family back in August. Police have not realeased any other details at this time.

Charges laid in the Death of 16-month-old Veronica Poitras

According to Cold Lake RCMP,  family member took 16 month old Veronica Poitras to the Cold Lake Hospital in the evening of August 26th.

Police were notified at approximately 7:00pm of the situation.  Veronica was transferred to an Edmonton Hospital that same night.

Veronica Poitras was taken off of life support on August 29th. An autopsy conducted on August 30th revealed the manner of death to be a homicide. Police have not released cause of death, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Update October 24th
On Monday October 23rd Mounties charged Sherman Robert Whitford, 35,  with second degree murder in relation to the death of Veronica Poitras. Sherman Whitford was the boyfriend of the infant’s mother.

Update: Valeri Lomakine stabbed to death in Calgary

Emergency crews responded to report of a stabbing in the parking lot of a building located in the 5700 block of 2 Street Southwest, in the Manchester Industrial area on September 6th at approximately 10 am .

Police and paramedics arrived to find 37 year old Valeri Lomakin suffering from serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Update September 29th
In the evening of September 28th, Calgary police arrested Michael Jordan Hope, 27, of Calgary. Hope has been charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of Valeri Lomakin.

Police treating death of a man at Reindeer Lake as a homicide

Southend RCMP responded to report of an unresponsive male on September 1st at Reindeer Lake.

The 33 year old victim was a resident of Southend. Police have released little information surrounding the death other than an autopsy conducted later in the week revealed the death to be a homicide.
