Charges laid in the death of 87 year old Olson Wolftail

RCMP were called to a residence in Watson Lake on December 23 at around midnight on report of an assault. Once at the home police found 87 year old Olson Wolftail dead.

Alfred Thomas Chief 31 has been arrested and charged with the murder of Wolftail.

The cause of death has not been released at this time.

Update: RCMP investigating suspicious death on Paul Band First Nation

RCMP were called to Paul Band First Nation located approximately 65 km west of Edmonton, on December 26th at around 2pm on report of a deceased person.

Police have not released the name of the victim or the circumstances around the death, only stating that it has been deemed suspicious.

Police have identified the victim as Christian Sidney Mark Grayhorseman 20, of the Edmonton area.

Update: Manslaughter charge in Christmas Day murder

Calgary police were call to the 0-100 block of Fonda Drive SE on December 25th at around 6:30pm on report of an injured man. The man was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.

Calgary police have charged Morris Stern in what they are calling a fatal stabbing. Police said Stern and the victim were known to each other. Stern has been charged with manslaughter.

Update January 4, 2017

Calgary police released the name of the Christmas day homicide victim. 45 year old Mark Maurice Mitchell’s name was announced once his next of kin was notified.

Toronto Homicide #69: Michael Jacobson dies from a stab wound

Toronto police responded to report of a stabbing at 200 Sherbourne Street on December 24th at around 2:20pm.

Police arrived at the apartment building to find 48 year old Michael Jacobson suffering from a stab wound in the hallway of the building.

Jacobson was rushed to hospital where he died from his injuries.

UPDATE: Woman found dead in Edmonton home

Edmonton Police responded to a medical call in the area of 122 Avenue and 132 Street, at around 4:30, December 22.

Police and EMS arrived to find a woman who had suffered serious injuries. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested a female suspect at the scene, no charges have been laid yet.

This death marks the 41st homicide for Edmonton this year. The 2016 Homicide victim’s list is available here.

Update December 25th:

Edmonton police have identified the victim as 21 year old Rachael Longridge, a recent nursing school graduate. Her mother Christine Longridge has been charged with second degree murder and possession of an offensive weapon. Christine Longridge had been suffering from bipolar disorder for the last 18 years.

Update December 29th:

According to CBC Rachel’s brother Michael 18,  found their mother Christine stabbing Rachael with a knife.

Winnipeg Homicide 24: Man dies from stab wound

Winnipeg police were called to the 400-block of Kennedy St On December 20th at around 11pm on report of a stabbing.

Police arrived to find a man suffering from serious injuries. EMS rushed the man to hospital where he died of his injuries in the early hours of December 21.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

The victim has been identified as Clarence Ignace, 25. Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Tyron Harper, 23. Harper is wanted for the second degree murder of Ignace.

Edward Lee Dyck found dead in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police were called to the 200-block of Belmont Avenue in West Kildonan on December 20 after receiving a call from a concerned friend to check on the well being of Edward Lee Dyck 55.

Police arrived to find the body of Dyck in the detached garage of the home with many suspicious injuries.

Dale Gregory Hilderman, 51, has been charged with the second degree murder of Dyck. Both the victim and the accused rented rooms in the home.

The death of Edward Dyck is the 23rd homicide this year in Winnipeg. The 2016 Winnipeg homicide victim list is available here.

Update Foster Mother Charged – Lydia Whitford’s death being investigated as a homicide 5 months later

Manitoba RCMP were called to a residence in the RM of Springfield on July 14. Police arrived to find Lydia Whitford 18, dead.

According to Lydia’s sister Jessica Whitford, Lydia had autism, epilepsy and was non-verbal.

Back in July it was thought that Lydia died of natural causes, since then, on December 20th investigators say that Whitford’s death was a homicide.

The cause of death has not been released.

Update December 12th 2017
Lisa Marie Campbell, 26, the foster mother of 18 year old Lydia Whitford was arrested on December 7th 2017, and charged with manslaughter in relation to the death of Lydia Whitford.

Update: Chad Robinson stabbed to death in London Ontario

London police responded to calls of a disturbance at the Imperio Banquet Hall at 109 Falcon Street, just after midnight on December 18th.

Police arrived to find Chad Robinson 26, of Guelph Ontario unresponsive suffering from a stab wound. Ems rushed Robinson to hospital where he died of his injuries.

According to London Police media release four men have been charged with assault causing bodily harm, in relation to a second victim who did not die from their injuries. The four men are Miguel Chacon-Perez, 27, Irvin Aparicio Chicas, 26, Samuel Aparicio, 25, and Octavio Merino, 25, all from of London.

There has been no word on what charges these men face in the death of Chad Robinson at this time.
