17-year-old Ethan Bespflug fatally stabbed on a Surrey BC bus

 Surrey RCMP responded to the report of an assault with a weapon on a bus in the 9900-block of King George Boulevard on April 11th at approximately 9:28 p.m.

On arrival police and paramedics located a 17-year-old youth suffering from life threating injuries. He was transported to hospital and has succumbed to his injuries. He has been identified by his familt as Ethan Bespflug.

Police said “There are no indications that this incident is in any way connected to a stabbing on a bus on April 1, 2023 in Surrey.”

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called and will be working in partnership with Surrey RCMP. Initial information suggests that this was a targeted and isolated incident. 20-year-old Kaiden Mintenko of Burnaby has been charged with 2nd-degree murder in connection to the fatal stabbing of Bespflug. Timothy Pierotti of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said “Investigators are still working to determine the exact nature of the relationship between the two, but we can confirm this was not a random attack, They were known to each other through a third party.”
