Deschambault Lake RCMP received a report of an injured person on a street in Deschambault Lake on October 1st at approximately 11:15 p.m.

On arrival, police located a 17-year-old boy from Deschambault Lake deceased. Police have not released the identity of the deceased or the cause of death.

A female youth was arrested in relation to the death, and an adult male was also arrested on warrants from Deschambault Lake for charges including assault with a weapon.

RCMP said the adult male was suffering from injuries from a separate assault, which is now under investigation by the Deschambault Lake RCMP, and was taken to hospital with injuries described as serious in nature.

As a result of the investigation the female youth, who can’t be identified as per the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with one count of second-degree murder. She is scheduled to appear in court in Deschambault Lake on October 4, 2023.

Major Crimes continues to investigate and additional charges are pending.
