Vancouver Homicide #13 – Matthew Alexander Navas-Rivas dies in targeted shooting

Vancouver police received several 9-1-1 calls reporting shots fired on July 25th at approximately 8:00pm. Police and paramedics arrived to find Matthew Alexander Navas-Rivas suffering from a gunshot wound. Navas-Rivas was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said Matthew Alexander Navas-Rivas, 28, and his friend were walking their dogs in the Cambridge Street and Nanaimo Street area when a suspect approached Navas-Rivas and shot him. The suspect then fled to a nearby vehicle and fled the scene.
