Toronto Homicide #39 – Cyclist Aaron Rankine-Wright, struck by a vehicle, two males charged, one male outstanding

Toronto police responded to a call for a personal injury collision in the Frankish Avenue and Sheridan Avenue area on June 9th at 5:30 pm.

Police arrived at the scene to find Aaron Rankine-Wright, 19, suffering from serious injuries. Rankine-Wright was rushed to hospital where he died of a stab wound.

It is alleged that Aaron Rankine-Wright was struck by a vehicle, three men exited the vehicle, and assaulted the victim who was on the ground. The three suspects fled the scene on foot, as the vehicle mounted and became lodged on the curb.

Police arrested a 17 year old boy on Sunday June 10th, and charged him with first degree murder. The other two suspects are still outstanding.

Update
On Friday, June 15, Toronto police arrested a 13 year old boy in relation to the homicide of Rankie-Wright. The Youth has been charged with First-Degree Murder.
