Bryer James Prysiazniuk-Settee dies from a gunshot wound in Winnipeg

Police were called to the area of Powers Street and Aberdeen Avenue on February 8th at around 10am on report of an injured man. Police and EMT’s arrived to find Bryer James Prysiazniuk-Settee, 24,  suffering from a gunshot wound.

Prysiazniuk-Settee was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police ask anyone with information regarding either incident or potential witnesses to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.

Update: Tyler Kirton dies of a gunshot wound in Winnipeg’s first homicide of 2017

Winnipeg police were called to the area of Thames Avenue and Watt Street on January 3rd at approximately 9:55pm on report of gunshots.

Police arrived to find Tyler Kirton 25,  lying in the street suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Update February 10th

A 16 year old has been charged with first degree murder. Police have not said if the accused is male or female.

Winnipeg Homicide 24: Man dies from stab wound

Winnipeg police were called to the 400-block of Kennedy St On December 20th at around 11pm on report of a stabbing.

Police arrived to find a man suffering from serious injuries. EMS rushed the man to hospital where he died of his injuries in the early hours of December 21.

The name of the victim has not been released at this time.

Update

The victim has been identified as Clarence Ignace, 25. Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Tyron Harper, 23. Harper is wanted for the second degree murder of Ignace.

Edward Lee Dyck found dead in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police were called to the 200-block of Belmont Avenue in West Kildonan on December 20 after receiving a call from a concerned friend to check on the well being of Edward Lee Dyck 55.

Police arrived to find the body of Dyck in the detached garage of the home with many suspicious injuries.

Dale Gregory Hilderman, 51, has been charged with the second degree murder of Dyck. Both the victim and the accused rented rooms in the home.

The death of Edward Dyck is the 23rd homicide this year in Winnipeg. The 2016 Winnipeg homicide victim list is available here.

Benjamin Franklin Traverse shot to death in Winnipeg

Winnipeg police were called to the area of 400 block of Pritchard Avenue on November 28th at around 11:30 pm on report of a shooting.

Police arrived to find Benjamin Franklin Traverse 39, suffering from a gunshot wound. Traverse was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries on December 3rd.

Winnipeg police are looking for Michael Tylor Fless, 30 and James Andrew Jewels, 26, in relation to the death of Traverse.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Fless and Jewels should contact Crime Stoppers at 204-786-8477.

Update on 2016 homicide, Winnipeg Homicide #21: Theodoros Belayneh shot after leaving a concert

Winnipeg police were called to the area of Donald Street and Stradbrook Avenue on November 26th at around 3am on reports of gunshots.

Police arrived to find two men with injuries consistent with a shooting. The two men were rushed to hospital where Theodoros Belayneh, 32, from Edmonton died of his injuries. The other man is expected to survive.

Winnipeg police re asking anyone who attended the Ace Hood show, and may have photos or videos of the parking lot at Reset Interactive Ultralounge to come forward. Anyone who has photos or videos is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6508.

Update Jan 2 2017
Paige Crossman 24 was charged with first-degree murder of Belayneh, she was also charged with attempted murder, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, drug trafficking and possessing the proceeds of crime.

Update May 12, 2017
Julian Donally Telfer, 30,  was arrested on May 11th and charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Fatal stabbing in North Kildonan takes the life of Scott Tates

Police responded to a call at the 300 block of Springfield Road on October 6th at around 3am on report of a serious assault.

Police found 23 year old Scott Tates suffering from a life threatening stab wound. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service rushed Tates to the hospital where he died of his injures.

Police arrested Christopher Blair McDougall 28. McDougal has been charged with second degree murder and assault causing bodily harm.

UPDATE-Garnet Williams found dead in a dumpster, arrests made

Winnipeg police were called to an apartment building on McGee Street on August 10th on report of a dead body in a dumpster behind the building.

Police arrived to find the body of a man who was later identified as Garnet Williams 43 of Winnipeg.

UPDATE – August 28th
Police said Williams was assaulted on July 31, and confined to a home where he passed away from his injuries days later.

Jeremy Lee Allen 27,  has been charged with first degree murder. Lyle Barrow 30, and Miranda Nancy Leclaire 32, have been charged with manslaughter in the death of Williams.

Jennifer Kelly Hall 25, and a 56 year old unnamed man have been charged with indignity to a human body.

Update December 8th
Lyle Barrow 30, and Miranda Nancy Leclaire 32 original charges of manslaughter have been upgraded to first degree murder.
