Winnipeg police and emergency crews were called to a home in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue on June 18th at around 6:15pm on report of a man unresponsive on the front lawn of a home.
Paramedics rushed the man to hospital where he was pronounced dead of a gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified by police as 27 year old William Sumner. No arrests have been made at this time.

Update June 22
Winnipeg police arrested Cameron Bounthieng Kinnavanthong, 32, and charged him with Second Degree Murder as well as 7 other charges.
Gene Lester Joseph Malcolm, 33, and Jonathan Erin Catcheway, 28, were arrested on June 27th and charged with manslaughter.
Update July Leon Edward Patchinose, 29, is wanted for manslaughter in connection with the death of William Sumner.

Winnipeg police general patrol unit noticed a crowd of people at a home in the 500 block of Spence Street on June 17th at around 4:30am.
Police stopped to investigate the commotion, when they found Marilyn Oshiwee 37 unresponsive on the front porch. Oshiwee was pronounced dead at the scene.
Fenisha Pebbles 28, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter.
The death on Marilyn Oshiwee is Winnipeg’s 9th homicide this year. The 2017 Winnipeg Homicide list is available here.
Emergency crews responded to report of an injured man at the block of 300 block of Kennedy Street on May 23 at approximately 3:15 pm.
22 year old Jarso Boku Ano was found outside of an apartment, suffering from a stab wound to the upper body. Ano was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time.

Christine Wood 21, was visiting Winnipeg from Oxford House First Nation with her family, when she was last seen Aug. 19 2016. She was last seen leaving a Hotel on Barrie st, where she had been staying with her family.
January 2017, the Missing Persons Unit began collaborating with Homicide investigators in search of Miss Wood.
Police obtained a search warrant on March 21st 2017, at the 300 block of Burrows Avenue and arrested Brett Overby 30. According to police Overby was arrested and interviewed at that time, but not formally charged.
Investigators gathered evidence for several days at the home of Overby. Evidence collected at Overby’s home lead investigators to believe that Wood was murdered at his Burrows Avenue home. Forensic evidence was confirmed on April 6th, and formal charges were laid. Brett Ronald Overby, 30, has been charged with second degree murder of Christine Wood.
The body of Christine Wood has still not been recovered.
Update: The body of Christine Wood was found by a landowner who was checking his crops in the R.M. of Springfield on Thursday June 1st. Initially Police could not identify the body, however an autopsy was performed on June 2nd and revealed the identity to be that of Christine Wood.
Winnipeg emergency services responded to a working house fire on Aberdeen Ave, March 14th at around 9:45am. On arrival emergency crews located Jeanenne Fontaine 29 in the residence.
Fontaine was rushed to hospital in serious condition, suffering from both smoke inhalation and a gunshot wound.
Jeanenne Fontaine died from her injuries on March 15th.
Update May 18th
Winnipeg police believe the death of Jeanenne was a matter of her being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Three people have been arrested:
1. Malcolm Miles Mitchell – Charged with second degree murder and arson.
2. Jason Michael Meilleur – Charged with manslaughter.
3. Christopher Mathew Brass – Faces counts of manslaughter and arson.

Winnipeg police were called to the 200 block of Spence St, on March 12th at approximately 10:00pm on report of gunshots.
Police arrived to find a 21 year old Shania Chartrand outside of a home, suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The woman was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police have not named any suspects.

Winnipeg police said a barrel with human remains was found last year on the property of a home in the Waverley Heights neighborhood. A search warrant was obtained on December 1, 2016, and police required forensic lab results to determine the identity of the victim.
Police said the victim was placed in a 170 liter drum along with chemicals to speed up decomposition. Police said the autopsy revealed the victim, Jennifer Barrett 42, was beaten to death sometime in august, then placed in the barrel.
Barrett’s 3 roommates have been charged with her death. Perez Adaryll Cleveland, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder. Jessica Elizabeth Reid, 34, of Winnipeg, and Holley Alyssa Sullivan, 28, of Calgary are charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Winnipeg Police and Paramedics were called to a home on Magnus Avenue between Powers and Andrews streets at around 11pm on February 6th on report of an injured man.
Canon Franklin Beardy, 28, was found in the home suffering from multiple serious injuries. Beardy was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Update Feb 19th
Police were issued a court order to authorize the publication of the minor Justin Harper, 16, and Joshua Leclerc, 19. Both are wanted on second degree murder charges.

According to the Winnipeg Transit union, Irvine Fraser 58, was at his last stop on February 14th just before 2am when he went to the back of the bus to wake a sleeping passenger.
The confrontation turned violent when 22 year old Brian Kyle Thomas attacked Fraser. The altercation ended with Fraser being stabbed outside his bus. Fraser was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
Brian Kyle Thomas, 22, has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Irvine Fraser, Thomas has also been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.

Police were called to the area of Powers Street and Aberdeen Avenue on February 8th at around 10am on report of an injured man. Police and EMT’s arrived to find Bryer James Prysiazniuk-Settee, 24, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Prysiazniuk-Settee was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.
