6 week old baby killed by 16 year old girl

Saskatoon Police were called to a home in the 200 block of Waterloo Crescent around 7am Sunday July 3 on report of an injured 6 week old baby.

The baby Nikosis Jace Cantre was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. The cause of death has not been released at this time.

Family members of Nikosis said they didn’t know the 16 year old girl accused in his death,  they had just met her downtown. The girl had nowhere to go and decided to help her out. The 16 year old girl had ran away from the Kilburn Hall Youth Centre the day before.

The accused has been charged with second degree murder.

Update: Charges laid in the death of 24 year old man – Saskatoon’s 8th homicide of 2016

Emergency crews responded to reports of an injured man on June 18th on Avenue E S at around 1:30 p.m.  Police said the 24 year old man was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

An autopsy was conducted and determined the death to be homicide. The cause of death and the name of the victim has not been made public at this time.

The suspect was wearing dark clothing and a ball cap, was last seen running south on Avenue D from 19th Street.

Update October 5th

A 28 year old man has been arrested and charged second degree murder, possession of a weapon for committing an offense. Police have not released the name of the accused at this time.

55 year old Cynthia Crampton found dead in her home

Saskatoon Police were called to a home in the 400 block of Galloway Road around 4:30 pm, June 4thon report of an injured person.

On arrival Police found Cynthia Crampton dead in her home.

Police have taken  Tammy Poffley, 52, and Tyler Hurd, 33 into custody, they are being interviewed in the death of Crampton.

Update: Tyler Hurd 33, has been charged with first degree murder and Tammy Poffley 52, has been charged with being an accessory to murder.

Update November 12th, 2017

A jury has found Tyler Hurd guilty of first degree murder in the death of Cynthia Crampton. Hurd will serve life in prison, with no parole eligibility for 25 years.

 

Saskatoon Stabbing leaves one dead and one injured

Police responded to a call  of a stabbing at around 2:30 a.m, on April 16th at strip mall at the corner of Warman Road and Assiniboine Drive.

Police found a  22 year old man,  with life threatening injuries and a second victim, an 18 year old man was treated at a local hospital and released. 22 year old Herman Matthews had undergone emergency surgery, however he died from his injuries at early Saturday morning.

**UPDATE**

A Canada wide warrant has been issued for Miguel Gomez 20. Gomez is wanted for second degree murder in the stabbing death of an un-named man on April 16th, and two counts of breach of probation.

Adam St. Denis Saskatoon’s most recent homicide

On March 30th, Saskatoon police were called to an apartment on Avenue O South on report of an injured man. When officers arrived they found a 24 year old man suffering from life threatening injuries.

The man was transported to hospital where he died of his injuries on March 31.

Police have not released the name of the victim at the request of the family. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death April 4th.

**UPDATE**

Adam St. Denis has been identified as the victim. Police still have not released St. Denis’ cause of death.

Kyle Zerr charged with the death of a 63 year old woman.

Saskatoon police were called to a home in the 3500 block of Balfour Street on report of an injured woman, just after midnight on March 23.

Police arrived to find the 63 year old woman with life threatening injuries. The woman was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries later that evening.

Kyle Zerr 29, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. Police believe the accused and the victim were known to each other but did not disclose any relationship.

Eight month old baby girl dead

On January 29 police received a call reporting an unresponsive infant at around 8am.  The baby girl was rushed to hospital where she died.

An autopsy was conducted and investigators believe the baby was asphyxiated.

Saskatoon police arrested the 27 year old man, and charged him with manslaughter, criminal negligence causing death and failure to provide the necessities of life.
