Abdi Jamma shot multiple times in Ottawa

Ottawa police responded to report of a shooting behind a plaza on Shillington Avenue at around 6am September 25th.  Police did not find a victim at the scene, however they received a call shortly after stating that a man with gun shot wounds had been dropped off at Royal Ottawa Hospital Mental Health Hospital.

The staff there performed CPR until the ambulance arrived and transported Abdi Jama 26, to Ottawa Civic where e died of his injures.

Jacob Thompson, dies from a gunshot wound in Ottawa

Ottawa police were called to an Elmira Drive complex at around 2am on September 24th on report of a shooting. Police arrived to find 40 year old Jacob Thompson suffering from a gunshot wound.

Thompson was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police have no suspects at this time.

Brianna Kennedy 20, and Geneva Kennedy 39, are both facing charges of accessories to murder after the fact.

Omar Rashid-Ghader shot to death inside Ottawa nightclub

Omar Rashid-Ghader 33 was the victim of a fatal shooting at Sentral Nightclub in Ottawa’s ByWard Market August 14th. An officer that was near the scene saw people running out of the club and saying that somebody had been shot.

Paramedics arrived at the club and tried to treat Rashid-Ghader for multiple gunshot wounds, however he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are looking Mustafa Ahmed 33 in connection to the shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 613-236-1222 extension 5050.

Tarique Leger shot dead in Ottawa

Police were called to a building at 292 St. Andrew Street, on reports of a shooting just before 4 a.m on July 10th. Police arrived to fine Tarique Leger, 19, of Montreal severely injured. He was used to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not named any suspects at this time. Leger’s death is the 9th Ottawa homicide of 2016.

Fatal shooting leaves Nicholas Kim dead

Ottawa Police were called to The Blossom Park area just after 9:30 pm on May 23 on reports of gunshots.  Police found Katrina Galloway 27, and Nicholas Kim 30, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

The two were rushed to hospital where Galloway was listed in serious condition but is expected to survive, and Kim was pronounced dead.

Jonathan Ranger, 32, the ex boyfriend of Galloway, is wanted by police for the murder of Nicholas Kim. He is described as six feet tall, 250 pounds, with dark brown balding hair and brown eyes.

Lonnie Leafloor found dead in Ottawa

The body of Lonnie Leafloor, 56, was discovered May 2nd after a neighbour found Leafloor dead in his apartment at 1400 Lepage Ave.

Police said the body had been there for several days.

The cause of death has not been released and police have no suspects at this time. Police believe the death of Leafloor was targeted.

Leafloor died from a stab wound to the neck.

Christina Voelzing shot Easter Sunday

Algonquin College student Christina Voelzing 24, was shot at her home in Bells Corners on March 27, at around 5am.  Voelzing was found unresponsive after neighbours heard gunshots.

She was rushed to hospital and sent into surgery for a gunshot wound to the neck, Voelzing remained on life support and was not expected to survive.

Voelzing succumbed to her injuries early morning on March 30th.

Police believe the shooting was targeted but are unsure if Voelzing was the target or one of the other people living at the address.

No arrests have been made at this time.

**UPDATE**

Behnam Yaali, 23, was arrested on April 15th, only hours after Ottawa police announced that he was wanted for the second-degree murder of Christina Voelzing.

Mohamed Najdi gunned down in Ottawa

Police were called to reports of a shooting on January 10th after concerned neighbours heard the gunshots and then saw Mohamed Najdi screaming that he had been shot in the back.

Paramedics rushed Najdi to the hospital where he pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Mohamed Najdi 28, was known to police after witnessing the shooting death of Sharif Said in May 2015.

No arrests have been made and police have described it as a targeted, gang-related shooting.

Alaa Asiri, 33, Ali Elenezi, 18, Lual Lual, 26, Mohamud Yusuf, 25 and  Mohamed Mohamed 32, have been charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping.

 

Nooredin Hassan, Ottawa’s fifth homicide of 2016

Nooredin Hassan, 20  was found by police, suffering from a gunshot around 6:20 p.m. on March 8th in the area of Jasmine Crescent and Ogilvie Road.

Hassan was rushed to hospital where he dies a short time after arrival from his injuries.

Witnesses reported hearing three or four gunshots in the area and seeing two vehicles speed away from the scene.

No suspects have been named at this time.
