Ashton Dickson shot to death in Ottawa’s 5th homicide of 2017

Ottawa police responded to report of a shooting in the area of Rideau Street and Augusta Street on Monday June 26th, at approximately 1am.

Police located the victim, Ashton Dickson, 25 of Ottawa, suffering from serious injuries. Dickson was pronounced dead at the scene.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

Homicide Suspect Killed by Ottawa police in shootout

Ottawa police responded to the intersection of Dalhousie and Clarence streets, June3rd,  shortly after 2 am on report of a man injured in a shooting.

The man had non life threatening injuries  and id expected to survive.

Moments after the initial shooting another, victim was shot. Terrence Phillips 43, was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The first officer on scene chased suspect into a parking garage, where the two exchanged several rounds of gunfire. The suspect was shot and died at the scene, the officer was not injured.

SUI is in their early stages of the officer related shooting.

Update: Ottawa’s third homicide of 2017: Ahmad Afrah dies from possible fall from a high rise building

Ottawa Police responded to a  disturbance call in the 400 block of MacLaren Street on May 15th at approximately 10:50pm. Paramedics were also dispatched to the same address on a medical call.

Emergency crews arrived to find Ahmad Afrah, 19 lying on the ground,. It is believed that Afrah had possibly fallen from a high rise building. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Liban Gure, 29 years old, has been charged with Manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Update May 19th
Canada wide warrants have been issued for Daniel Jean Charles, 20, and two minors, a 16 year old female and a 16 year old male.

Update May 28th
On May 26th the 16 year old girl turned herself into police.  The 16 year old male is still wanted as well as 20 year old Daniel Jean Charles (pictured above).

Update: Ottawa man dies in early morning stabbing

Ottawa police are investigating their first homicide of 2017, after receving a medical call at around 5:30 am February 2nd.

Police arrived at the scene, a home at the 1100 block of Joseph Cyr Street to find a 24 year old man suffering from a life threatening stab wound.

The man was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The victim’s name will be released after his next of kin is notified.

Update February 3

The victim has been identified as Brian Boucher, 24. Boucher had been stabbed in the neck, and was sent to hospital for emergency surgery where he died from his injuries.

Police have issued a Canada wide warrant for the arrest of Awale Hussein 23 has been issued. Hussein is facing a second degree murder charge in the death of his friend Brian Boucher.

Update February 8th
Awale Hussein turned himself in to police on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on February 9, 2017

Update Ottawa Homicide 23 & 24: Asma A-Noor and Nasiba A-Noor found dead in Ottawa

Ottawa Police responded to a call of two women found dead in a home in the area of McCarthy Road and Paul Anka Dr on December 16th at around.

Police said the victim’s are ages 29 and 32, however their names and cause of death will not be released at this time.

Ottawa police have a suspect in custody.

Update December 18th

Musab A-Noor 29, has been charged with first and second degree murder in the deaths of Asma A-Noor, 32, and Nasiba A-Noor, 29. Police said both women died of stab wounds.

Ottawa’s 22nd homicide: 20 year old Abdullah Al-Tutunji stabbed to death

Ottawa police were called to the area of Prince of Wales Drive and Meadowlands Drive on December 11th at approximately 2:45 am on report of a stabbing.

Police said 20 year old Abdullah Al-Tutunji was unconscious when paramedics arrived. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Jordane Larocque-Laplante 20 was treated for minor injuries and released to police. Larocque-Laplante has been charged with second degree murder in the stabbing death of Abdullah Al-Tutunji.

Ottawa Homicide #20: 17 year old Leslie Mwakio

Ottawa Police were called to the area of Bayswater Avenue near Laurel Street on December 6th just before 11 pm on reports of gunfire.

Police found Leslie Mwakio 17 of Ottawa suffering from a gunshot wound. Mwakio was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Ottawa double homicide – Merrill Gleddie Rogers and Dave Rogers found dead

Montreal police contacted Ottawa police on Monday November 28th with information that Cameron Rogers, 22, confessed to killing his parents in Ottawa.

Ottawa police went to the home on Apeldoorn Avenue to check on the welfare of the owners. Police found Dave Rogers, 69, and his wife, Merrill Gleddie Rogers, 63 behind a shed in the backyard. One body was covered by a tarp, and the other was reported to be in a suitcase.

Cameron Rogers has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.

Police have not released the cause of death at this time.

The death of Mr. and Mrs. Rogers brings Ottawa’s homicide count up to 19 for 2016. The 2016 Ottawa Homicide victim’s list is available here.

Ottawa homicide 17: Solomon Odekunle stabbed to death

Ottawa Police were called to St. Laurent Blvd and Oglivie Rd, on November 6th at around 2:30 am outside Pipers Bar and Grill.

At the scene, police and emergency crews found Solomon Odekunle 21, suffering from a serious stab wound. Odekunle was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Solomon Odekunle was a University of Ottawa international student from Nigeria. Police believe the fight between Odekunle and the suspect started over a woman.

Joe-Bryan Ndikkuriyo 27 has been arrested and charged with second degree murder.
