Toronto homicide #40 – Victoria Selby-Readman found dead in a fifth-floor apartment unit

Toronto police responded to a suspicious death in a fifth-floor apartment unit located at  798 Richmond Street West on June 12th.

An autopsy was completed on June 13th and the Pathologist  ruled the death of Victoria Selby-Readman, 28, a homicide. The cause of death has not been released, and the victim’s identity has not been confirmed.

Toronto Homicide #39 – Cyclist Aaron Rankine-Wright, struck by a vehicle, two males charged, one male outstanding

Toronto police responded to a call for a personal injury collision in the Frankish Avenue and Sheridan Avenue area on June 9th at 5:30 pm.

Police arrived at the scene to find Aaron Rankine-Wright, 19, suffering from serious injuries. Rankine-Wright was rushed to hospital where he died of a stab wound.

It is alleged that Aaron Rankine-Wright was struck by a vehicle, three men exited the vehicle, and assaulted the victim who was on the ground. The three suspects fled the scene on foot, as the vehicle mounted and became lodged on the curb.

Police arrested a 17 year old boy on Sunday June 10th, and charged him with first degree murder. The other two suspects are still outstanding.

Update
On Friday, June 15, Toronto police arrested a 13 year old boy in relation to the homicide of Rankie-Wright. The Youth has been charged with First-Degree Murder.

Kyle David Baker’s death being investigated as a homicide in Oshawa

Oshawa police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Bloor Street and Ritson Road, on June 6th just before 2:00am.

Police arrived at the commercial/residential building to find Kyle Baker, 24, of no fixed address, suffering from gunshot wounds.  Despite life saving efforts, Baker was declared deceased at the scene.

Rodney Rizun shot to death in Toronto’s 38th homicide of 2018

Toronto police responded to numerous calls for Sound of Gunshots in the Birmingham Street and Bradham Path area on June 5th at approximately 11:23pm.

On arrival police found Rodney Rizun, 45, of no fixed address, suffering from gunshot wounds. Rizun was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Heeley Rae Balanga found dead in Mariposa Township fire. Her death has been declared a homicide

Kawartha Lakes Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the City of Kawartha Lakes Fire Department responded to a house fire on Aino Beach Road in Mariposa Township on May 29th at approximately 5:10am.

Heeley Rae Balanga, 35, was found deceased in the fire, and investigators are called her death a homicide. The cause of death has not been made public at this time.

Police have arrested 44 year old  Ross Ronald Dion from Little Britain, ON, and charged him with first-degree murder and arson in relation to the death of Balanga.

Toronto Homicide #37 – 18 year old Israel Edwards dies after Yonge-Dundas Square shooting

Toronto police responded to report of a shooting at Yonge-Dundas Square on May  30th at approximately 11:09pm.

Police arrived to find 18 year old Iseael Edwards from Pickering ON, suffering from serious injuries. Edwards was ruched to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Nasser Abdoulkader fatally shot in Brampton

Brampton police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence located on Linderwood Drive, on May 26th at approximately 10:06pm.

Police arrived to find Nasser Abdoulkader, 26, no vital signs in the driveway of the residence. He was pronounced at the scene.

A dark coloured vehicle was seen travelling eastbound on Linderwood Drive leaving the scene of the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information relating to this investigation is asked to call investigators at the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at (905) 453-2121, ext. 3205.

Toronto Homicide #36 – Vleepo CEO Matthew Staikos shot to death

Toronto police responded to a report of a shooting, and a man layig on the sidewalk in the Bay Street and Yorkville Avenue area on May 28th at approximately 11:30pm.

Police arrived to find Matthew Staikos, 37, of Toronto, suffering from serious injuries. Staikos was pronounced at the scene.

The suspect is described as black, 5’10”, medium build. He fled the area in a vehicle described as a silver or grey four-door Mercedes.

Daniel Smith stabbed to death in Mississauga

Peel police officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a residence in the area of Tradewind Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard on May 26th at approximately 1:15am in Mississauga.

On arrival police located 19-year-old Daniel Smith suffering from serious injuries. Smith was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Police are asking for anyone who attended the party, with any information to contact Peel Regional Police Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at (905) 453-2121 Ext 3205

Update – London police searching for suspect in relation to the homicide of Dereck Szaflarski

London Police Service responded to a report of an altercation in  the area of Richmond Street and Piccadilly Street on May 26th at approximately 2:30am.

On arrival police found the victim, Dereck Szaflarski suffering from serious injuries. Szaflarski was rushed to hospital where he was  pronounced deceased.

Police are searching for a dark-skinned, heavy set male who entered a white car and fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Update June 2
Robert Ashley Williams, 35, turned himself into London police on May 31st at 5:30 pm. Williams has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Dereck Szaflarski.
