Thunder Bay Police investigating death of a man on Marks Street

Thunder Bay Police responded to a 911 call reporting an injured male, on May 22 at approximately 4:50pm. Police arrived to the Marks Street location and found the man in serious condition.

Paramedics rushed the injured man to hospital where the victim died of his injuries.

Thunder Bay Police said the autopsy results confirmed the man died as a  result of the trauma received in an altercation just prior to being located.

No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Abdiqani Abshir Toronto’s 19th homicide

Torpnto Police were called to the area of Cavell Avenue/Pape Avenue on Monday May 23 at approximately 11:45 pm on report of a shooting.

Police located Abdiqani Abshir 24, suffering from a gunshot wound in the Gerrard Street East & Logan Avenue area. Abshir was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.

During the investigation police also found a deceased woman at 96 Cavell Avenue. The cause of her death has yet to be determined. If police determine the death of the woman to be homicide she will be Toronto’s 20th homicide of 2017.

Update: Beata Paciorek of Brampton found dead in a U-Haul

Peel police have said that 35 year old Beata Paciorek had been reported missing on May 19th, and was though to have been with several others in a U-Haul headed to Sudbury.

Police said that witnesses lead them to believe that Paciorek was murdered between Brampton and the Greater Sudbury Area.

On May 20th Sault Ste. Marie police arrested Mike Madill 28 & Amy MacDonald 37  The pair were charged with first degree murder under the direction of Peel Police.

On May 21 a warrant was issued to search the U-Haul, Paciorek’s body was found in a rear compartment.

Update May 30
A third person has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death on Beata Paciorek. Peel Homicide officers arrested Rick Snow of Brampton on May 30th, Snow will be held pending a bail hearing in Parry Sound on Wednesday May 31.

Woman found dead in Mississauga apartment

Mississauga police were called to an apartment on Ceremonial Drive near Hurontario, May 21st at approximately 6:30 pm on report of a deceased woman in the unit.

Police arrived at the scene to find the 50 year old woman. Her name has not been released at this time. Police first called the death suspicious, however the Homicide Bureau has taken over the investigation.

Update: Ottawa’s third homicide of 2017: Ahmad Afrah dies from possible fall from a high rise building

Ottawa Police responded to a  disturbance call in the 400 block of MacLaren Street on May 15th at approximately 10:50pm. Paramedics were also dispatched to the same address on a medical call.

Emergency crews arrived to find Ahmad Afrah, 19 lying on the ground,. It is believed that Afrah had possibly fallen from a high rise building. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Liban Gure, 29 years old, has been charged with Manslaughter and aggravated assault.

Update May 19th
Canada wide warrants have been issued for Daniel Jean Charles, 20, and two minors, a 16 year old female and a 16 year old male.

Update May 28th
On May 26th the 16 year old girl turned herself into police.  The 16 year old male is still wanted as well as 20 year old Daniel Jean Charles (pictured above).

Update assault charge upgraded: Wilfred Fiddler dies after indecent in Sandy Lake First Nation

Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service responded to call of assistance on MAy 8th at around 1:45 am. Police arrived to find Wilfred Fiddler 49, laying in a ditch outside of a residence. Police took Fiddler to Sandy Lake Nursing Station where he was later pronounced dead.

Police have not released the cause of death at this time.

Kory Fiddler 24 was taken into police custody and has been charged with assault.

Update May 15th
Kory Fiddler’s charge has been upgraded to second-degree murder. Police have not commented on the relationship of the two men.

Update: Hamilton’s 4th homicide: Angelo Musitano dies from gunshot wounds in Waterdown

Police responded to a cal at Chesapeake Dr. in Waterdown on May 2nd at around 4:00pm on report of gunshots. Police found 39 year old Angelo Musitano suffering from several gunshot wounds in his truck that was parked in the driveway of his home.

Musitano was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Police believe the homicide was targeted and are looking for the shooter who has been described as:
Male stalky build, wearing a dark toque, black jacket, grey pants and dark shoes.

Update May 9.
Police have determined though video evidence that the suspect fled the scene in a burgundy 2006 Ford Fusion with rusty rims. The getaway car was found abandoned on May 2017 in the area of Fenton Drive and Braeheid Avenue in Waterdown. Police believe the vehicle was abandoned and the suspect fled in another vehicle. Instigators are asking anyone who witnessed a second vehicle in the area or any suspicious circumstances to contact them.

Taxi driver Vijay Bhatia found dead in a parking lot in London

London Police responded to a report of an assault in the parking lot of Mac’s Milk at 925 Wonderland Road South on April 29th at approximately 1:00am.

Police found the victim who was later identified as Vijay Bhatia 64, at the scene without vitals. Bhatia was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Police said the victim had picked up a fare of two people and drove them to 925 Wonderland Road South where he was assaulted by one of the passengers.

Cody Perkin, 23, of London has been charged with second degree murder.

Windsor’s Third Homicide Of 2017 identified: Injured man found on sidewalk

Police were called to the 2900 block of Tecumseh Rd East on April 29th at approximately 3:20am on report of an injured man on the sidewalk.

Officers found the man who was then transported to hospital by paramedics, and died of his injuries later that day.

Police have not released the name of the victim or cause of death at this time.

Update May 25
Investigators have identified the victim as Steven Hill, who is also know as Steven Kiyoshk 43 of Windsor. Police said the case of death was blunt force trauma, and said they believe Hill was struck by a vehicle.

The first homicide of 2017 was Dallas Nelson, and the second was an unnamed man.

Update: Homicide investigation is underway after man found injured at a Hamilton Gas station dies

On April 28th at around 2:30am a man drove a vehicle into a Pioneer Gas Station at 333 Upper Centennial Parkway in Hamilton. The man was covered in blood.

The victim was able to get help from a passerby who called 911. Emergency crews took the victim to hospital where he died of his injuries on April 30th.

The police are not releasing any other details at this time to protect the integrity of the case.

Update: The victim has been identifies as Hayder Qasim-Rushdi 33, of Mississauga. Qasim-Rushdi was not known to police.


Police have issued warrants for the arrest of three 17 year old girls, who can’t be named as they are minors.  It is believed that the girls were working as escorts. The knife used in the murder has been located, and the victim’s vehicle is under forensic analysis.

Two females have now been arrested after turning themselves into police.
