Serena Mckay 19, was last seen by her family Saturday night and was reported missing on Sunday April 23 at around 6pm. Police received a report of a body of a woman near a home at around 8pm on April 23. Police arrived to find McKay Dead.
Mckay was beaten to death in Sagkeeng on April 22, by two schoolmates. A video of the beating has been circulating on Facebook.
Sagkeeng Chief Derrick Henderson said that Serena McKay was not from Sagkeeng, though she attended school in Sagkeeng. Police said that she lived in the community of Powerview-Pine Falls, Man.
RCMP said the suspects, age 16 and 17, have been arrested on second degree murder charges and are in custody.
Police were called to a Garden Hill First Nations home on April 28th at approximately 7:30 pm on report of a boy from the community being shot.
Police arrived at the scene to find the 11 year old with life threatening injuries. The boy later died.
Police said one 12-year-old and two 11-year-olds were playing in the home when they found the gun. The 12 year old boy was in possession of the weapon when the 11 year old was shot.
The 12 year old is charged with negligence causing death and careless use of a firearm, and his 36 year old father has been charged with careless storage of a firearm.
Christine Wood 21, was visiting Winnipeg from Oxford House First Nation with her family, when she was last seen Aug. 19 2016. She was last seen leaving a Hotel on Barrie st, where she had been staying with her family.
January 2017, the Missing Persons Unit began collaborating with Homicide investigators in search of Miss Wood.
Police obtained a search warrant on March 21st 2017, at the 300 block of Burrows Avenue and arrested Brett Overby 30. According to police Overby was arrested and interviewed at that time, but not formally charged.
Investigators gathered evidence for several days at the home of Overby. Evidence collected at Overby’s home lead investigators to believe that Wood was murdered at his Burrows Avenue home. Forensic evidence was confirmed on April 6th, and formal charges were laid. Brett Ronald Overby, 30, has been charged with second degree murder of Christine Wood.
The body of Christine Wood has still not been recovered.
RCMP have offered little information surrounding the shooting deaths of three people on April 3rd.
Police said they were searching for Bill Wozney on April 3rd after his wife expressed concern for his well-being.
At around 7pm Police received 911 calls reporting gunshots. Police arrived to the East Selkirk residence to find 3 people dead outside of the home.
The victims are James Gregoire, Nicole Rach-Gregoire (the homeowners) and Bill Wozney, a co-owner of Physiotherapy practice where Rach-Gregorie worked.
Police have not said if the deaths are that of a murder suicide, but they are not looking for any suspects.
RCMP said prison staff at The Stony Mountain Correctional Institution found a 50 year old man in his cell with severe injuries February 20th.
The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries on March 3.
Two men have been charged with second degree murder. Tristan Storm Fisher, 20, and Carl Jessie Klyne, 23, both men were serving time at the Correctional Institution at the time of the assault.
Winnipeg emergency services responded to a working house fire on Aberdeen Ave, March 14th at around 9:45am. On arrival emergency crews located Jeanenne Fontaine 29 in the residence.
Fontaine was rushed to hospital in serious condition, suffering from both smoke inhalation and a gunshot wound.
Jeanenne Fontaine died from her injuries on March 15th.

Winnipeg police were called to the 200 block of Spence St, on March 12th at approximately 10:00pm on report of gunshots.
Police arrived to find a 21 year old Shania Chartrand outside of a home, suffering from a serious gunshot wound. The woman was rushed to hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police have not named any suspects.

Two victims, Steven Chevrefils (35) and Jody Brown (43, male) were found deceased the morning of February 2nd in the small town of St. Georges, Manitoba. The victims were discovered in their home. The RCMP has not released the cause of deaths of the victims or any information on possible suspects.
Winnipeg police said a barrel with human remains was found last year on the property of a home in the Waverley Heights neighborhood. A search warrant was obtained on December 1, 2016, and police required forensic lab results to determine the identity of the victim.
Police said the victim was placed in a 170 liter drum along with chemicals to speed up decomposition. Police said the autopsy revealed the victim, Jennifer Barrett 42, was beaten to death sometime in august, then placed in the barrel.
Barrett’s 3 roommates have been charged with her death. Perez Adaryll Cleveland, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder. Jessica Elizabeth Reid, 34, of Winnipeg, and Holley Alyssa Sullivan, 28, of Calgary are charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
Winnipeg Police and Paramedics were called to a home on Magnus Avenue between Powers and Andrews streets at around 11pm on February 6th on report of an injured man.
Canon Franklin Beardy, 28, was found in the home suffering from multiple serious injuries. Beardy was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Update Feb 19th
Police were issued a court order to authorize the publication of the minor Justin Harper, 16, and Joshua Leclerc, 19. Both are wanted on second degree murder charges.
