RCMP were called to Paul Band First Nation located approximately 65 km west of Edmonton, on December 26th at around 2pm on report of a deceased person.

Police have not released the name of the victim or the circumstances around the death, only stating that it has been deemed suspicious.

Update December 29th
Police have identified the victim as Christian Sidney Mark Grayhorseman 20, of the Edmonton area.

Update on October 4, 2023, members from the Alberta RCMP Historical Homicide Unit (HHU) arrested and charged a 34-year-old resident of Edmonton, Alta., for the 2016 murder of Christian Grayhorseman.

Oskie Pehaeso Dion has been charged with:

• Manslaughter
• Indignity to a body

Dion has been remanded into custody and is set to appear on Oct. 18, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Edmonton.
