Update, charges laid after 15 month investigation – Police treating the death of a 12 year old Ray “OJ” Taparti Jr. as a homicide

RCMP said they received report of the missing youth on July 7th, and were advised that the the boy had been missing for five days.

Search and rescue officials found the boy’s remains on July 8th in an industrial area in Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.

Nunavut RCMP are treating the death of a 12 year old boy as suspicious.

If investigators classify the death of the boy as a homicide, he will be the third Nunavut homicide in the past 15 days.

Update October 8th, 2018
21-year-old Glen Kadlak Jr, of Rankin Inlet, was arrested in Iqaluit, Nunavut in relation to the death of Taparti.

Kadlak has been charged with 1 count of murder and is scheduled to appear on October 23rd, 2018 at the Nunavut Court of Justice in Iqaluit.
