Update RCMP Deem the Deaths a Murder Suicide – Police investigate a suspicious fire after two people found dead in Nova Scotia

Springhill Fire Department Chief Stanley Hunter said the fire broke out at a home on Beatons Lane around 4 p.m on March 20th. Hunter said he did not hear or see any fire detection devices at the home, but the home was under renovation so they could have been disconnected.

It is believed that the fire started in the basement but was extinguished quickly. Stanley Hunter said the two bodies were found close to each-other on the main floor.

RCMP have identified the victim’s as a  45-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man from Ontario. It is not believed that the fire killed the victims, and the RCMP’s Northeast Nova Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate

RCMP have confirm after the completion of autopsies, that the deaths of a 45 year-old woman and a 42 year-old man were the result of a murder-suicide. Police said No other details regarding the deaths will be released.
