Update – Police believe the man found in the Yukon River was murdered

Yukon RCMP are investigating the death of Wilfred Charlie 57, after students at a learning camp found the body in the Yukon River, near Fort Selkirk on July 5th.

The autopsy conducted on July 7th has lead investigators to believe Charlie was a victim of homicide. Charlie was last seen near his Carmack’s area home on June 19th.

Mario Rueben Skookum 25, was arrested on October 5th and charged with first-degree murder in relation to the death of Wilfred Charlie. Police said Tyler Aaron Skookum 27, was arrested in September and charged with the lesser charge of second-degree murder.
