Saint-Hyacinthe Police were called to a six unit  townhouse on September 13th after report of a break in. Police arrived to find the glass in the back door broken, and two injured people.

The pair were rushed to hospital where Isabelle Lavoie a mother of two died of her injuries, and the 34 year old man Maxime Labreque is expected to survive his self inflicted injuries. Police said that they believe Labreque assaulted his ex girlfriend Lavoie and then tried to take his own life.

Labreque has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Isabelle Lavoie.
