Nanaimo RCMP located a body believed to be 16 year old Makayla Chang on May 18th. Police said that Chang was reported missing on March 22.

Police are treating the girl’s death as a homicide but said they do not believe there is any risk to the public.

Nanaimo RCMP said Steven Bacon, 60, is now charged with the First Degree Murder of 16-year-old Makayla Chang. Police said Bancon was arrested in September of 2019 in Fredericton, NB on unrelated charges.
