Man with Mafia ties killed in Laval – Steve Ovadia, shot to death in the Chomedey district

Laval police were called to a strip mall on Samson Blvd. shortly after 8:00pm on report of a shooting on June 27th.

Police arrived to find Steve Ovadia, 45, deceased at the scene. According to police Ovadia was connected to the Montreal Mafia and allegedly ran a network of drug traffickers.

The suspects fled the scene in a four-door vehicle that is either pale grey or pale blue. No arrests have been made at this time.

Darren Kevin Saile found dead in a North Edmonton Home

Edmonton Police were called to a home  in the area of 113 Avenue and 103 Street after receiving the report of gunfire on June 26th at 12:30 am.

At the scene, police located the victim who has been identified as Darren Kevin Saile, 45, deceased inside the residence.

EPS Homicide Section has arrested and charged Gilles Georges Andre Gauthier, 54, on June 28th in Calgary. Gauthier has been charged with First Degree Murder.

Nicolas Lavoie-Cloutier 18 shot to death in Montreal

Montreal police were called to the area of Quinn and Brodeur streets, on June 25th at approximately 9:30 pm on report of a shooting.

Police arrived to fins Nicolas Lavoie-Cloutier, 18, suffering for gunshot wounds. Lavoie-Cloutier was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

It is alleged that Lavoie-Cloituie was running from a group of people when he was shot.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Ainar Gancthev, charged with 2nd degree murder and arson in the death of his father

Peel Regional Police and Mississauga Fire responded to a vehicle fire in a green space in the area of Lakeshore Road and Dixie Road on June 24th at approximately 7:00pm.

The fire was extinguished and revealed a deceased male victim. Ainar Gancthev, 27,  was arrested on June 24th and charged with second degree murder and manslaughter.

According to new outlets the victim has been identified in court documents as  71-year-old Yura Ganchtev, the father of the accused.

Christophe Oliviera arrested in relation to the death of a 71-year-old woman

Laval police were called to a duplex, on June 23rd, where they found the victim outside the home with signs of trauma on her body. The 71-year-old female victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police had been searching for Christophe Oliviera since Saturday June 23rd, calling him a very important witness.

Oliviera, 31, located in a residence on 2nd Ave. in the Lac Leon area of Ste-Marcelline-de-Kildare. Police arrested Oliviera on June 28th at 1:00am.

Oliviera and the victim lived together but were not related.

Surrey BC nurse Paul Bennett shot to death

Surrey RCMP responded to numerous reports of a shooting in the 18200 block of 67A Avenue on June 23rd at approximately 4pm.

Police arrived to find 47-year-old Paul Bennett suffering from gunshot wounds. Bennett was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. It has been reported that  Bennett was shot in his driveway while in his pickup truck.

Portage la Prairie RCMP investigating the death of a 56 year old man

Portage la Prairie RCMP said in a press released that a 56-year-old-man  was assaulted at his residence in the 400 block of Royal Road North on May 23, 2018.

The victim has been in hospital, suffering from life threatening injuries. The victim succumbed to his injuries on June 17th turning the assault case into a homicide investigation.

Police are asking that anyone with information to contact the Portage la Prairie RCMP at 204-857-4445.

Toronto Homicide #48 – Brent Young shot to death

Toronto police responded to a medical callat a residential building in the area of Dundas street east and Sherbourne street on June 24th at approximately 2:45am.

Police arrived at the apartment unit to find Brent Young, 41, suffering from gunshot wounds. Young was pronounced at the scene.

Police have not named any suspects at this time and ask anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-7400.

Toronto Homicide #47 – Jenas Nyarko killed in drive by shooting

Toronto police responded to a shooting in the area od Replin Road and Old Meadow Lane on June 24th at approximately 1:56am.

Police arrived to find the passenger in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim, Jenas Nyarko, 31, was rushed to hospital where she died of her injuries.

Police have released security camera footage in hopes of identifying the the suspects in a grey or silver SUV.
