Death of Rance Bearhat being investigated as a homicide

Blood Tribe Police Service and emergency medical services responded to report of a man in medical distress on February 24th in Standoff Alberta. Police said the 40 year old man had been exposed to extreme weather conditions for an unknown amount of time.

The man was rushed to  Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, where he died of his injuries. Blood Tribe police are working with RCMP in what is said to be a homicide.

An autopsy was conducted on February 26th, however no details have been released.

Police have identified the victim as Rance Bearhat 26. On Saturday March 3rd police made 2 arrests, Stanley Troy Big Sorrel Horse, 36,  and Justin Chad Big Sorrel Horse, 32, have both been charged with second degree murder.

Update: 4 deceased identified – Triple Murder Suicide in Ryerson Township

Police were called a home on Starratt Road in Ryerson Township on report of deaths, on February 23rd at approximately 7:30pm. Police arrived at the home to find four people dead.

Police said two men and two women were found deceased with “obvious signs of trauma.” Detective Inspector Martin Graham said three of the deceased were members of the same family and lived in the house where they were found. The fourth person found was not a relative but lived in the same town.

Firearms were recovered from the scene, but police have not released if the cause of death was gun related. Police have not released the names or ages of the victims at this time.

Update February 26th
Police have identified the victim’s as three generations of the same family. Police believe that  Raija Turanen, 88, Ulla Theoret, 55, and Paul Theoret, 28 were killed in the home, and that Mark Jones, 58, took his own life.

Suspicious death of Leonard Damm being investigated as a homicide

Windsor police responded to a report of an injured man at a residence located in the 3200 block of Bloomfield Road on February 18th at 4:00pm.

Police arrived to find Leonard Damm, 73, deceased. Initially police classified the death as suspicious, however an autopsy performed the following day revealed the death to be a homicide.

The cause of death has not been released and no arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact Windsor Police at 519-255-6700 ext. 4830.

Oliver Augustas Willis shot to death in Brampton

February 19, at approximately 2:40 p.m., Brampton police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Vodden Court and Vodden Street.

Police arrived to find Oliver Augustas Willis, 37, of Brampton, deceased at the scene. Police said Willis had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.

Chad Barre charged in the death of Justin Troy Langan in Regina

Regina police responded to  report of a male injured in a firearm offence during a robbery on February 18th at approximately 8:10pm.

Police arrived to find 40 year old Justin Troy Langan suffering from serious injuries. Langan was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Chad Barre, 31, has been charged with:
First degree murder
Armed robbery using a firearm
Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Flight while pursued by peace officer
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
6 X Possession of firearm/ammunition contrary to prohibition order

Donald Kelly of Burnaby dies in fatal Coquitlam shooting

Coquitlam RCMP received several reports of shots fired in the area of Sylvan Place and Riverview Crescent and a vehicle speeding away on February 16th at approximately 10pm.

Police arrived to find 45-year-old Donald Kelly suffering from gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Kelly was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

A short time after polce received report of shots fired, they recevied another report of a  burning dark colored sedan a short distance away from the shooting. Police said the burnt vehicle was a 2018 grey Chrysler 300 and would like to speak with anyone that has information about it.

No arrests have been made at this time.

55 year old man dead after a stabbing in Montreal’s Gay Village

Montreal police said two men got into a dispute at an apartment on Beaudry Street between De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Ontario Street on February 17th at approximately 6:30pm.

It has been reported that the 55 year old victim sustained a stab wound in the argument. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

The victim’s 61 year old brother remains in police custody. Charges have not been released at thid time.

This is the fourth  homicide for Montreal in 2018.

Kaminder Rai dies in Vancouver West Side Shooting

Vancouver police received a report of shots fired in the area of Marguerite Street and West 49th Avenue on February 15th at approximately 1:00pm.

Police arrived to find 32-year-old Kaminder Rai of Surrey suffering from a gunshot wound. Rai was rushed to hospital in critical condition where he died of his injuries a short time later.

Constable Jason Doucette, VPD. said in a press release  “Crime does tend to fluctuate throughout the year, but it’s concerning any time we have a homicide in Vancouver — targeted or not. We’re continuing to work with our partners throughout the region to solve these crimes and prevent future violence.”
