Torpnto Police were called to the area of Cavell Avenue/Pape Avenue on Monday May 23 at approximately 11:45 pm on report of a shooting.
Police located Abdiqani Abshir 24, suffering from a gunshot wound in the Gerrard Street East & Logan Avenue area. Abshir was taken to hospital where he died of his injuries.
During the investigation police also found a deceased woman at 96 Cavell Avenue. The cause of her death has yet to be determined. If police determine the death of the woman to be homicide she will be Toronto’s 20th homicide of 2017.
Update August 31, 2017
On August 30th Toronto Police announced that the woman located inside 96 Cavell Avenue has been identified as Joanne Colley, 59, of Toronto. The Coroner has ruled the death of Joanne Colley as the 31st homicide of the year.

Edmonton police were called to a home in the area of 135 Street and 124B Avenue on May 20th to check on the welfare of a resident. Police arrived at the home and found Frederick Dunn 67, dead.
Police said that Dunn’s body showed obvious signs of trauma. Staff Sgt Bill Clark of the Edmonton Police Service said “Our investigation leads us to believe that Mr. Dunn was killed sometime between Friday, May 12, 2017 and Saturday, May 13, 2017,”
The cause of death has not been released at this time.
Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Walter James Jenkins aka JJ in relation to the death of Dunn.

Very little information has been released in the double homicide in the Superstore paking lot at 48th Street and 130th Avenue on May 21st at around 8pm.
Calgary police received reports of a shooting just before 8pm. Officers arrived to find two men dead. Police have not released the names of the men, and said at least one of the victim’s were known to them.
Peel police have said that 35 year old Beata Paciorek had been reported missing on May 19th, and was though to have been with several others in a U-Haul headed to Sudbury.
Police said that witnesses lead them to believe that Paciorek was murdered between Brampton and the Greater Sudbury Area.
On May 20th Sault Ste. Marie police arrested Mike Madill 28 & Amy MacDonald 37 The pair were charged with first degree murder under the direction of Peel Police.
On May 21 a warrant was issued to search the U-Haul, Paciorek’s body was found in a rear compartment.

Update May 30
A third person has been arrested and charged with first degree murder in the death on Beata Paciorek. Peel Homicide officers arrested Rick Snow of Brampton on May 30th, Snow will be held pending a bail hearing in Parry Sound on Wednesday May 31.
