Navdip Singh Sanghera & Harjit Singh Mann both die in East Vancouver shooting

Vancouver police responded to reports of gunshots on March 9th at around 9:30 p.m., in the area of East 31st Avenue and Inverness Street.

On arrival police located two men suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle. Harjit Singh Mann 49, was pronounced dead at the scene. Navdip Singh Sanghera 32, was rushed to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on March 10th.

No arrests have been made at this time.

The deaths of Harjit Singh Mann and Navdip Singh Sanghera are Vancouver’s 5th & 6th homicide of 2017.

 

Structure fire leads police to homicide investigation

Emergency crews responded to report of a fire in a detached shed at a home on Bancroft around 9:20am on March 11th.

While at the residence the body of Kenneth Edwards was found. The GSPD report did not say where on the property the body was located.

The cause of death has not been released at this time.

Darcy Sheppard 29,  has been arrested and is facing 5 charges incliding, first degree murder, indignity with human remains, arson, theft under $5,000, and breach of probation

 

East Hastings stabbing takes the life of Majir Panahi

Vancouver police were called to East Hastings Street on March 14th at around 3:30am on report of a stabbing. Once at the scene police found 19 year old Majir Panahi collapsed in front of 139 East Hastings.

Panahi was rushed to hospital where he died a short time later.

Dana Camber died from a single gunshot wound

Barrie Police received a report of gunshots on March 14th at 2:40am in an apartment building, located at 101 Kozlov Street.

Police arrived to find Dana Camber 50, unresponsive and suffering from a significant wound. Camber was sent to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Autopsy reports revealed that Dana Camber died of a single gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Mila Barberi shot to death in broad daylight

York Regional Police responded to reports of a shooting on March 14th at approximately 4:12 pm, on Castor Ave. Two victims were located at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were rushed to hospital where the woman, 28 year old Mila Barberi was pronounced dead.  The 40 year old man who will not be identified had minor injuries and is expected to survive.

Police have released a description of the suspect:
– Male
– Approximately 6’2″ & 250lbs
– Dark jacket
– Covered face driving a dark coloured Jeep Grand Cherokee

Update: Jeanenne Fontaine dies of a gunshot wound

Winnipeg emergency services responded to a working house fire on Aberdeen Ave, March 14th at around 9:45am.  On arrival emergency crews located Jeanenne Fontaine 29 in the residence.

Fontaine was rushed to hospital in serious condition, suffering from both smoke inhalation and a gunshot wound.

Jeanenne Fontaine died from her injuries on March 15th.

Update May 18th
Winnipeg police believe the death of Jeanenne was a matter of her being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Three people have been arrested:
1. Malcolm Miles Mitchell – Charged with second degree murder and arson.
2. Jason Michael Meilleur – Charged with manslaughter.
3. Christopher Mathew Brass – Faces counts of manslaughter and arson.

Alleged Hell’s Angel prospect Michael Gregory Widner found dead near Port Renfrew

The body of Michael Gregory Widner was found on the Pacific Marine route near Port Renfrew on March 15th.  Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit are investigating the death as a homicide and say the attack was targeted.

Police believe that on March 8th Widner went to meet someone at William Simmons Memorial Park, near Poirier Lake at approximately 8pm. Widner’s vehicle was found abandoned at the park.

Hells Angels spokesman Rick Ciarniello told the Postmedia News that Widner was a prospect, and that his body had been found.

Dylan Greenaway dies of a gunshot wound in the parking lot of a Toronto School

Toronto police responded to a medical distress call on Thursday March 16th at around 7am in the parking lot of Alvin Curling Public School.

Police arrived to find Dylan Greenaway, 21, of Toronto suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Toronto District School Board says no students were at the school during this incident because of March break.

Dr. Ferdinand Mejilla shot to death at his Burlington practice

Halton police responded to a call at the Mejilla Chiropractic Clinic in Burlington on March 16th after report of a shooting at around 12:05pm.

Police located the victims, Fred (Ferdinand) Mejilla 50 suffering from a gunshot wound, and David Williamson 44 suffering from a self inflicted gunshot wound. The pair were rushed to hospital where Mejilla died of his injuries.

Update March 23

David Williamson, a former patient of Mejilla and husband to an employee of the Mejilla Chiropractic Clinic died in hospital from a self inflicted gunshot wound on Monday March 20th.

Police have not released any motive for the shooting at this time.

The death of Dr. Mejilla is the first Burlington homicide in 518 days. The previous homicide was Wesley Nagel, who was murdered by his son on October 15th 2015.
