Update: Woman found dead in a vehicle in Northeast Edmonton

Edmonton police responded to a 911 call on February 20th at 4:30 pm after  a body was found in a vehicle.

Police arrived at the rural property near 258 Avenue and Meridian to find a woman in her 30’s dead in a vehicle.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for February 23.

Update February 26th
Police have identified the victim as Cynthia Deborah Kennedy, 39, of Edmonton. The autopsy revealed the Kennedy died of a gunshot wound.

Satkar Singh Sidhu fatally shot in Abbotsford

Abbotsford Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the 30500-block of Steelhead Court on February 20th at around 9:30am.

Police arrived to find 23 year old Satkar Singh Sidhu suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life saving efforts by paramedics Sidhu died at the scene.

Three men were seen fleeing the scene and were eventually stopped with a spike belt in Mission.

Update: Sudden death in Pelican Narrows deemed a homicide

Pelican Narrows RCMP were alerted of a death on February 21st at around 1am. The male victim was transported to a local health care center where he was pronounced dead.
Police have not released the name or age of the victim at this time. An autopsy has been scheduled for later this week. More information will be added as it becomes available.

River Blade Storm Linklater 22, has been charged with first degree murder of Mark Clarence Michel, 16.

Update: Woman found dead in Montreal Health Centre

Montreal police are investigating the 4th homicide of 2017 after a woman in her 60’s was found dead at a health and social services centre on Dufresne Street.

Police received the 911 call at 1:30 pm on February 20th reporting a woman in medical distress.  Despite life saving efforts the woman was pronounced dead at the Centre d’Hébergement Emilie-Gamelin.

Police have arrested a 55 year old man at the scene.

Update February 22
Police have confirmed the suspect Michel Cadotte, is the spouse of the victim, Jocelyne Lizotte who suffered from Alzheimer’s.

Update: Fatal Shooting at Brampton Motel 6

Peel police were called to a Motel 6 at around 10:30 pm on February 20th on report of gunshots. Police arrives at the scene to find a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wound.

The victim who has been identified by police will not have his name released until his next of kin is located. Police believe the shooting to be an isolated indecent.

Update February 20th
The victim had been identified as Jahsavior Reid 19 of Toronto. The death of Reid is the first Peel death of 2017.

Update May 8
Chief Jennifer Evans announced that a 24 year old Travis Babbington had been taken into custody on May 8th in connection to the death of Jahsavior Reid.  Babbington has been charged with first degree murder.

Jennifer Barrett found dead, decomposing in a barrel full of chemicals

Winnipeg police said a barrel with human remains was found last year on the property of a home in the Waverley Heights neighborhood. A search warrant was obtained on December 1, 2016, and police required forensic lab results to determine the identity of the victim.

Police said the victim was placed in a 170 liter drum along with chemicals to speed up decomposition. Police said the autopsy revealed the victim, Jennifer Barrett 42, was beaten to death sometime in august, then placed in the barrel.

Barrett’s 3 roommates have been charged with her death. Perez Adaryll Cleveland, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder. Jessica Elizabeth Reid, 34, of Winnipeg, and Holley Alyssa Sullivan, 28, of Calgary are charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Update: Little information in the death of Canon Franklin Beardy

Winnipeg Police and Paramedics were called to a home on Magnus Avenue between Powers and Andrews streets at around 11pm on February 6th on report of an injured man.

Canon Franklin Beardy, 28, was found in the home suffering from multiple serious injuries. Beardy was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Update Feb 19th
Police were issued a court order to authorize the publication of the minor Justin Harper, 16, and Joshua Leclerc, 19. Both are wanted on second degree murder charges.

Michelle Riley dies after serious assault in Toronto

Toronto police were called to a building at 500 Dawes Road, on February 16th at 8:30am on report of an injured woman. Police found 36 year old Michelle Riley without vital signs.

Paramedics attempts to revive Riley failed, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brian Williams, 51, of Toronto, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. Williams is scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Friday, February, 17, 2017.

The relationship between the victim and the accused has yet to be established.

Winnipeg Bus driver Irvine Fraser dies from stab wound

According to the Winnipeg Transit union, Irvine Fraser 58, was at his last stop on February 14th just before 2am when he went to the back of the bus to wake a sleeping passenger.

The confrontation turned violent when 22 year old Brian Kyle Thomas attacked Fraser. The altercation ended with Fraser being stabbed outside his bus. Fraser was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Brian Kyle Thomas, 22,  has been charged with second degree murder in the death of Irvine Fraser, Thomas has also been charged with possession of a dangerous weapon.
