Ashley Simpson’s missing person case is now being treated as a homicide

Ashley Simpson 32, has been missing since April 28. RCMP are now treating her disappearance as a possible homicide. Simpson had been working in Salmon Arm BC for the winter months, but was from St. Catherine’s ON.

Simpson told her family that she would be returning to Ontario for her sisters baby shower on May 15, when she didn’t show up the Police investigation began on May 16th. Police have said there has been no use on her bank account, and no social media presence since April 28.

Ramsey Whitefish beaten to death in Toronto

Police responded to a 911 call of a disturbance on Yonge and Glocester street on May 18th at around midnight.

Police found Ramsey Whitefish suffering from obvious trauma. Whitefish was rushed to hospital where he died a short time after arrival. A rock the size of a bowling ball found at the scene is believed to be the murder weapon.

Whitefish lived in a rooming house near where he was found. Though he was found with a sleeping bag at the scene. Police were called to the rooming house where he lived 2 days before his death regarding a disturbance between Whitefish and his roommate.

Toronto police have charged Trevor Severin 24, with second degree murder in the death of Ramsey Whitefish, 42.

Kennith King-Lok Leung Shot to death in his SUV

Vancouver Police were called to the 500-block of West 27th Avenue after receiving 911 calls of multiple shots fired on May 16th at around 10:30pm.

Police arrived to find 23 year old Kennith King-Lok Leung who was known to police in his SUV. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police or Crime Stoppers.

Sherra Eckert dies three days after assault

Grande Prairie Police responded to an assault complaint on May 11th. Sherra Eckert told police that she needed medical attention and that she was assaulted by a woman named Barb the night before.

Eckert passed away on May 13th. Barb Wright of Grande Prairie has been charged with one count of Manslaughter.

An Autopsy is scheduled for May 17th to determine the cause of her death.

35 year old Nikkolas Steenhuisen dead after confrontation at Home Hardware

A 35 year old Nikkolas Steenhuisen is dead after confronting another man who was interfering with his vehicle, in the parking lot of Home Hardware on May 14th.

Steenhuisen tried to apprehend the suspect as he tried to get into another vehicle by standing on the running board of the truck driven by the suspect. The truck collided with another parked vehicle, trapping Steenhuisen between the two vehicles. Steenhuisen was severely injured, and was airlifted to Hospital where he died a short time after arrival.

Pregnant woman Candice Rochelle Bobb killed in drive by shooting

Candice Rochelle Bobb 35 was killed in a targeted shooting in Rexdale May15th at around 11pm.  Candace Bobb who was 5 months pregnant was taken to hospital by a friend where she was pronounced dead. The baby was delivered by an emergency c-section and is in stable condition.

Bobb was in the back seat of the car when shots were fired. The driver was dropping off a friend after watching an amateur basketball game.

Police say the shooting was targeted but are unclear of the motive as of yet.

George Prieston killed with a military-style rifle

Winnipeg Police were called to the 600 block of Wellington Avenue on May 12 at around 6:30 pm on reports of a shooting. Police arrived to find George Prieston, 29, suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper body. Police also found Priestons dog also shot.

Prieston was rushed to Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His dog had to be put down due to the extent of his injuries.

Police said a military style assault rifle with a high-capacity magazine was used in the shooting.

**UPDATE**

Raymond Ducharme and Shawn Poitra, both 25, have been charged with the first degree murder of George Prieston. Both have also been charged with cruelty to animals in the death of Prieston’s dog.

Wilburn Campbell, Regina’s latest homicide

On Tuesday May 10th Regina police were called to the area of Elphinstone Street at around 7:30 pm on reports of an injured man.

Police arived to find Wilburn Campbell 37 collapsed on the sidewalk.  Campbell was rushed to hospital where he died shortly after arrival.

Cause of death has not been released at this time.

Kadeem Bascombe died after being shot in Brampton

Peel Regional Police, received several calls regarding gunshots on May 13th at around 9pm.

On arrival to the parking lot of a strip mall near All Stars Bar and Grill, Police found 24 year old Kadeem Bascombe suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Paramedics rushed Bascombe to Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not named any suspects.

UPDATE: Vincenzo Lofaro dead in downtown Hamilton shooting

Hamilton police were called to Club 77 on reports of shots fired at around 3:20 am on May 13. On arrival they found a man dead and a woman with a non life threatening wound.  Club 77 is located 280 meters away from the Downtown police station.

Police have not released the name of the victim.

King William is closed between John st north and Mary st as the investigation continues.

UPDATE

The man killed outside Club 77 was an employee at the bar. Police have identified the victim as Vincenzo Lofaro, 46.

UPDATE – September 1

Rebaz Resh, 25, Waed Alabd Alnabi, 25, and Ammar Nabulsi, 26 were arrested on August 31st and charged with first degree murder in the death of Lofaro.

UPDATE – September 2

At around 7am on September 2nd the 4th suspect was arrested by Hamilton police after a search warrant was issued for the man’s home on Thursday September 1st. His name has not been released at this time. The man is also facing first degree murder charges in the death of Lofaro.
